Observations and Anecdotal Information
Lemon basil is a citral chemo-type basil, with a sweet lemony aroma.
Energetically, lemon basil is a stimulator that can help us become alert and awake when we are fatigued. It is helpful for enhancing concentration, memory, and mental clarity. It has an ability to relieve stress when inhaled.
It can also ease headaches, facilitate lymphatic drainage, reduce sinus congestion from colds and viruses, and relieve nausea.
Lemon basil essential oil makes a wonderful massage oil for relieving pain and relaxing tired muscles. I find it to be especially nice for diffusion, as it has a sweet basil scent with an uplifting lemony top note.
It is also a very beneficial addition to spinal oil treatments. It is highly anti-viral and anti-bacterial. It can be applied to the spine with a hot compress for 20 minutes, to relieve the symptoms of colds, flu, and fevers.
Because it is very helpful for the adrenal glands, lemon basil can be useful for women experiencing PMS and menopause symptoms.
