Shampoo Base Certified Organic Natural Ingredient

Our new shampoo base is made of only one ingredient–certified organic laurel glucoside.

Laurel glucoside is a naturally derived surfactant–sudsing agent–which can be enhanced with various additions to make shampoo, body wash, hand dishwashing liquid, bubble bath, or any sudsing cleansing product.

Ours is made from certified organic coconuts.  It is much softer and safer for the body than SLS and all of its derivatives that are normally used in commercial shampoo products.

We like it so much, and we know that if you are not ready to give up sudsing shampoo, using this base to make your own is the best way to guarantee satisfaction.

It is easy to add just a few natural ingredients and create a clean, natural shampoo that is just not available in stores or salons.

How to Use Shampoo Base

Blend 1 part of shampoo base with 2 parts of water or a water based substance, such as green tea, aloe vera gel, or a hydrosol.  Heat over very low heat–do not simmer or boil–until base is liquified.  Stir gently to avoid too much foaming.  Remove from heat as soon as the base is dissolved.

You can add nutrients such as spirulina powder, a few drops of botanical oils, or powdered plant proteins to add shine and body to your hair and help detangle.

To adjust the pH, you can add vitamin C powder or lactic acid (possibly in the form of whey–I have not yet tried this additive, but will Blog when I do!).

For special needs such as hair loss, dandruff, or scalp conditions, try adding just a drop of essential oil for every ounce of shampoo base.  Too much oil of any kind will decrease the sudsing action, so you must experiment here too.

Essential oils can also be added to lift your spirits and make your shampoo experience aromatically enjoyable.  I like peppermint for this, or maybe a floral or citrus aroma.

You will need to experiment to find your favorite mix.  We suggest that you make up 2 ounces at a time and see how you like it before making a big batch.   Adjust each batch accordingly until you find the best mix.
