Note: Several chemotypes of this tree produce blue, brown and white camphor. White camphor is made from the camphor chemotype, blue from the sesquiterpene chemotype, and brown from the oxide chemotype. Only the white variety is used medicinally.

White camphor is best used therapeutically in small amounts. It is fantastic for opening breathing passages when congestion is making breathing difficult. Inhaling this oil can relieve bronchial spasm, and open blooded sinuses and breathing passages. It is a powerful immune stimulant, helping to relieve many symptoms of colds and flu.
It relieves muscular pain and arthritis. It is great for relaxing and loosening muscles, and for infections such as vaginal, genital, and respiratory infections.
White camphor essential oil can be added to cremes and lotions for rashes, skin diseases, and bacterial or fungal skin infections. It repels insects, and kills lice.
Applied topically, it can relieve severe cramps or muscle spasms. It can relieve the pain of arthritis, rheumatism, and gout. It increases circulation and relieves all types of inflammation. It is beneficial in the treatment of measles, flu, viral diseases, and food poisoning.
Cautions
Quality of the oil is very important! Camphor is not recommended to be used internally, as it can be toxic even in small amounts.
Avoid use with asthma, convulsions or epilepsy, delicate conditions, or sensitive skin unless directed by a health care professional.
Avoid with infants or small children, unless recommended by a health care professional.
Do not use during pregnancy or lactation.
Keep all essential oils away from eyes.
