Observations and Anecdotal Information

This species variation is the “hottest” member of the thyme essential oils team.  Thyme essential oil thymol chemotype is effective for treating many infectious diseases, including whooping cough, tonsillitis, laryngitis, sore throat, bacterial infections, bronchitis, earaches, and the common cold.

To use it for infections, take a few drops in a hot tea, or add up to 10 drops into a gelatin capsule and swallow it.  Capsules must be swallowed immediately upon making them, as time will allow the capsule to disintegrate under the powerful dissolving force of thyme.

It makes a powerful treatment for IBS, ulcers, and other intestinal issues, including parasites; and for gastritis, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea.

It also can relieve muscle spasms, including the spasm connected with incessant coughing.  It can be inhaled or applied to the chest, solar plexus, or spasming muscles topically.

Because of its powerful antiviral and antibacterial properties, thyme is also useful for skin infections, and can be applied topically for that purpose.

It is a superior anti-viral, and has been used to treat malaria, plague, and many super staph and strept infections that antibiotics could not reach.  It is a great friend to have in your arsenal for emergencies.
