Shea Butter Base

Source:  Togo

Process:  Minimally processed, unrefined hand made butter from karite nuts

Botanical name:  Vitellaria paradoxa, (formerly known as Butryospermum paradoxa)

Our shea butter is hand made in Togo, under the Fair Trade Act, where women of the villages are able to make a fair wage for collecting the karite nuts and making them into this glorious unrefined shea butter.  (Most shea butter on the market is taken to Europe and heavily refined, producing a whitish substance with no aroma).

I have relied upon shea butter as the best base for vaginal and rectal boluses.  It holds its solidity well when blended with herbs and essential oils, and melts at body temperature.  And it is so nourishing to tissues, that it can soothe any reaction to even the most harsh herbs or oils necessary for drawing out cancers and healing internal issues.

It is also a great treatment for sunburn; it  provides a slight degree of sun protection.  And it is very useful for healing water induced rashes and irritation, as it can remain water resistant for several hours at a time.  In Togo, karite nut butter is used as a skin softener, moisturizer, wound and burn treatment.
