Inula Essential Oil

September 16, 2011 | Posted in: Herbs & Essential Oils

Source:  France

Distillation:  Artisan distilled in small batches, by steam distillation

Botanical name:  Inula graveolens

Note:  The high borneol content of this bluish green oil can cause crystallization.  To reliquify the oil, place sealed bottle in a hot water bath for a few minutes.

This rare oil was only produced in Corsica until just recently when distilliers in France began to produce it.  It has been used in Europe as a very powerful mucolytic, which dissolves and expels mucus from the respiratory system.  It is the oil of choice for treating laryngitis, bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis, tuberculosis, and asthma; and supports healing and cleansing of the mucus membranes.

It is also an anthelmintic and choleretic, helping to expel parasites from the liver and gall bladder, and to clear vaginal trichomonas and urinary tract infections and parasites.

Once you have experienced this oil, it’s high price becomes understandable, as it is truly superior for respiratory issues and the treatment of asthma.  This is the queen of all respiratory oils!
