This total extract is a powerful liver and pancreatic regenerator. It enhances the production and release of bile, and carries stone dissolving properties. It improves digestion, relieves nausea, and soothes ulcers.
The steam distillation method causes the formation of azulene, which turns this essential oil bright blue. CO2 extraction does not produce the high temperature conditions to form azulene, a known anti-inflammative. It is instead a waxy dark green substance, yet it still carries fantastic anti-inflammative properties, even without the blue azulene constituent!
This is possibly the best plant medicine known for the healing of soft tissue injuries. I have seen it applied to severe strains, sprains, and contusions with really wonderful results. One time I applied this extract, combined with cypress and rosemary, to the injured and badly bruised foot of a construction worker. He told me his foot had been crushed by a the recoil of a heavy chain, and he had been unable to walk on it for 3 days.
In an hour after the blend was applied, with saran wrap on top, he was able to get up and go to the store; he went to work the following morning. This is my “go to” oil for acute injuries with swelling, inflammation, or pain. It is so mild that it can be used directly on open wounds and skin injuries, without burning or discomfort.
