Eucalyptus Macarthurii Essential Oil
September 16, 2011 | Posted in: Herbs & Essential Oils
Source: South Africa
Distillation: Steam distilled from certified organic leaves
Botanical name: Eucalyptus macarthurii
Note: One of the hidden jewels of the eucalyptus world, its common name is Camden Wooleybutt!
This oil has a soft, sweet, fruity-rosey bouquet with a mild balsamic-woody undertone. It is my very favorite eucalyptus aroma, having quiet, soft, sweet characteristics which blend well with most essential oils. People who typically do not like eucalyptus find this oil to be very pleasant.
- Antiseptic, slightly anesthetic, anti-bacterial, and warming properties
- Treatment for burns, sores, ulcers, scrapes, boils, and wounds
- Applied topically as an oil or ointment, it also helps relieve the pain of rheumatism, aches, pains, stiffness, and neuralgia
- For outdoor enthusiasts, eucalyptus macarthurii rubbed into the skin seems to work well as an insect repellant, especially for mosquitoes and fleas.
- Rubbed into the chest, it relieves congestion and cough. For relief of congestion, asthma, and respiratory problems, boil eucalyptus oil in water, remove from heat and inhale the vapors–or use a diffuser or inhaler blank.
- For an antiseptic bath, place eucalyptus oil in the water as you run a hot bath. Deep penetration of the oil is assisted by the hot water, and brings pain relief, muscle relaxation, and mood enhancement.
