An ancient plant medicine from the Mediterranean, cypress has been used by many cultures over thousands of years.  The ancient Egyptians used this oil in the ascension process.  There is much myth and mystery around the cypress tree, and it has long been associated with protection.

According to Greek myth, the god Apollo was born and raised in the sacred Ortygian cypress grove in Lykia. There he was nursed by the Nymph Ortygia and guarded by shield-clashing Kouretes (guardian spirits).  This strong element of protection continues to emanate from the essential oil today, making it a perfect oil for applying to the feet or the body at the very beginning of a massage or body treatment, or anytime protection is desired.

Cypress can be used externally or internally (at proper dilution), and has many healing applications.  It is useful for treating an enlarged or congested prostate, balancing male or female hormones, decreasing the symptoms of PMS, increasing skin circulation to transform edema or cellulite conditions, and to disinfect the air and enhance the atmosphere.  It is effective against viruses, bacteria, molds and fungus.

Cypress can help restore emotional balance to those overcome with grief.  It eases crying and uncontrolled talking, and can help us relax into the feeling of grief or loss, allowing it to pass.  It strengthens the human energy field.
