Botanical name: Eucalyptus polybractea
Like most eucalyptuses, this oil is a powerful disinfectant, antiseptic, and antibacterial oil. It has a unique and milder aroma than some eucalyptuses, making it more appealing to a wider range of people. When diffused, it offers a great treatment for coughs, mucus conditions, asthma, sore throats, and respiratory infections. It can also be applied topically as a chest compress for this purpose.
It is anti-inflammatory, and carries pain relieving properties. It loosens muscles and restores circulation to tissues that are “frozen” or locked up. Blue Mallee is especially effective against nerve pain and sciatica, and may be applied topically, in a high dilution or undiluted.
