Distillation: Steam distilled
Note: Distilled from plantation grown blue cypress, the oil is bluish immediately upon distillation, gradually maturing to a blue green color.
Like sandalwood, this oil ages beautifully and mellows in aroma as it gets older. I have a bottle of this in my private collection that is about 10 years old, and smells like heaven-aging gracefully like vintage frankincense or sandalwood. Blue cypress is very useful as a base note and fixative in blends, an especially useful aroma for men’s blends.
The tree and its extracts have been used medicinally by the Tiwi people of Australia for thousands of years.
Blue cpress has the following properties:
Its woody, smoky tones carry a licorice undertone that blends very well with tangy citrus oils, and flowery oils. Makes a wonderful component in body oils and baths.
