Black Seed Oil

Source:  Egypt
Distillation:  Cold-pressed
Note:  Made from seeds of plants.   Aka black cumin, love-in-a-mist, kalonji

I love the flavor of this oil, which is part essential oil and part fatty oil.  It is a great addition to foods to bring a Middle Eastern flavor.  This is the real thing, not the diluted variety commonly sold.  For best flavor, it is wise to dilute with 2 or 3 parts olive oil if you are using it for the first time.

Called Habbakul barraka, the “seed of blessing”, it is believed in the Middle East to heal almost everything.  Especially helpful in hormone balancing conditions, and regeneration from degenerative diseases such as cancer and arthritis.  This oil is a tonic and can be eaten on a daily basis with no harmful effects.

This oil adds a Middle Eastern flavor when added to potatoes or root vegetable combinations, with sea salt and ground cumin.  It is great on rice dishes as well.
