Bitter Orange

Also called Seville orange, or orange bigarade, this bitter orange oil is cold-pressed in Ivory Coast,  Africa from the rough, thick peels of the fruit.  As with all citrus oils, it is best not to apply them within 24 hours of sun exposure, as they can increase the sun’s effect on skin.

Bitter orange can help strengthen arteries and veins, when applied topically on a regular basis.  It is cooling and calming, balancing to the nervous system, and has laxative properties.  It is a superior addition to skin preparations for treating acne, oily skin, cellulite, and degenerated skin as it increases collagen formation.

Bitter orange has been used with other oils to treat tumors and cancer.  It is also known to balance hormone production and adrenaline in the blood.  Energetically, bitter orange can enhance mental clarity.  It can help balance self love and love of others, and increase compassion-relieving emotional stagnation associated with the heart.  Blended with rosewood and English Chamomile, it can empower the concept of choice, transmuting the heart attack pattern of feeling trapped with no way out.
