Anise Essential Oil

Source:  Egypt

Distillation:  Steam distilled from the seeds

Botanical name:  Pimpinella anisum

Anise has an ancient history of medicinal, magical, and culinary use.  Milder than fennel and sweeter than cumin, it is one of the most popular remedies for indigestion, gas, and bloating.

One drop of anise essential oil in a cup of hot water, with a little honey or agave nectar, will do wonders to relieve heartburn or indigestion without the nasty side effects of Tums or soda water.  Anise is so mild and gentle that I have used it for many years in my remedy for colic in babies.  (It must be very diluted for this usage).

Anise is one of the herbs of protection and purification, and it can be diffused to purify the environment.  When applied to chakras or meridian points, anise can help stimulate the body’s natural protective energy, and the physical immune system.  It can be combined with bay laurel essential oil for a purifying bath, especially when one is cleansing heavy metals from their body tissues.
