Autumn Season 2011

Around the beginning of October, the Earth’s energy flow (and our physical bodies’ energy flow) reverses and begins to flow in a downward and inward direction.  Leaves and seeds fall, plants withdraw their life force into the roots in preparation for winter.  Animals find caves, dens, and holes to store up reserves.  Many go into hibernation or a reduced level of activity as winter nears.

This slowing down and turning inward is the perfect time for parasite cleansing.  The natural flow draws energy into the colon and lungs, two of the most likely organs to harbor parasite infestation.  During this time, parasites are particularly vulnerable to discovery and can be more easily cleared out of our systems with herbal cleanses and remedies.

Intestinal round worm

It is estimated that 90% of the human population in the United States is currently infected with some form of parasite.  Factors that increase the likelihood of infection include:

  • Sharing your home with pets (many parasites are easily passed from dogs, cats, birds, and even horses, to humans)
  • Growing up on a farm or working around livestock
  • Going barefoot outside
  • Working in contact with the general public
  • Shaking hands frequently with people
  • Traveling to other countries
  • Eating in restaurants and salad bars
  • Working in schools or with children
  • Eating produce, especially from other countries
  • Eating fish, poultry, and red meats
  • Sharing plates or bed with dogs, cats, or other pets
  • Eating sushi
  • Eating raw foods

Giardia-a microbial parasite

Parasite cleansing is suggested every autumn for 28 days as a maintenance procedure.  If parasites are perceived or suspected, or it you have not done yearly cleanses regularly, it is  wise to do a 90 day parasite cleanse first.  Some recipes and essential oils for various parasite cleanses are available here.

Human pinworms live in the anus, and cause itching especially at night. They may migrate into the vaginal system and cause fibroids and damaged tissue.

The most common forms of parasite infection include intestinal worms, organ flukes and flatworms, pinworms, hook worms, candida and other systemic parasites.

Parasites are likely to be present in our bodies when the internal environment is ideal for them.  High acid blood conditions; acidic foods such as coffee, alcohol, yeasts and refined sugars; and degenerative health conditions all contribute to creating a parasite-friendly environment.  We may kill off the parasites with an herbal cleanse, but if we do nothing to change the environment, they will end up returning again.

Flukes can infest the lungs, liver, gall bladder, kidneys, and intestines.

Many parasites are difficult to detect and diagnose, as they are masters at disguising themselves to appear as a part of the host.  The only symptoms may be a very subtle feeling of fatigue or low energy.  After many years of infection, they can gradually lower our state of vibrancy and health, leading to disease and degenerative conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, cancer, tumors, cysts, and circulation issues.
